i have a monitor that works with these values:
# These are the DDC-probed settings and modelines
        HorizSync 30-55
        VertRefresh 50-150
# 1024x768, 60.0Hz; hfreq=31.469000, vfreq=59.939999

but what happens is strange. i did a cd to support a
web application in a linux kiosk. it must work on 500 pc around italy.
the hardware is almost the same but never can be sure. so i compiled
kudzu and hwdata (from redhat) in order to configure correctly my
peripherals and it works fine. the only prob. with the monitor. i added
a line to /usr/share/hwdata/MonitorsDb to fix my monitor and the strange
fact is that sometimes it works sometimes not. i mean sometimes kudzu
recognizes the monitor and fixes its correct ranfes, sometimes no.
ddcprobe says ..."does your monitor support ddcprobe??" remember this
happens on a live cd!!!
any ideas?

the monitor is olivetti DSM 21-558
(http://www.eniak.it/out/olivetti/monitor/dsm21-558m.htm)
and the line i added to /usr/share/hwdata/MonitorsDb is:
Olivetti; Olivetti DSM 21-558 M; dsm21-558-m; 30-55; 50-150; 1
