Hey all -
Having some problems running Xconfigurator. It starts out ok, identifies
my video card, but then I get an error:

" There was an error reading the file /etc/sysconfig/mouse. Would
you like to proceed in creating a new configuration?"

So I go ahead and do so:

" Mouseconfig can now update your XFree86 configuration file to reflect
your new mouse settings. Would you like mouseconfig to make these
changes now?"

And I say yes, please..

And Xconfiurator ends. Sitting on my screen is:

Xconfigurator: Critical error reading /etc/sysconfig/mouse.
Xconfigurator: Check permissions of /etc/sysconfig/mouse.
Xconfigurator: Also - make sure you are running this program as root

Now, permissions on /etc/sysconfig/mouse are 777 right now (owned
by root, group root), an I am running as root. And strangely enough, my
mouse works just fine - Microsoft Intellimouse. All the buttons work,
the rollerball works...

I have looked on the net, in whatever docs I can find, and no love for
getting around this problem. This came up because I wanted to run
Xconfigurator in order to set my screen resolution to a higher value.

Any ideas out there? I'm running RH 7.1 (or 7.3 - I inherited this
machine), kernel 2.4.2-2, XFree86 Version 4.0.3. I'm hoping to upgrade
to RH8 before too long, but it would be nice to solve this problem...

TIA,
andy wallace
