I have printed and will pursue your recommendations. Thank you. > Sheesh. If you need everything as part of the OS install CDs or DVD then > maybe you should get SuSE. Btw, what do you need that SO6 does that Open > Office does not do?? I have played with both and can't find any case > where SO6 really makes much of a difference.
I have purchased and tried SuSE 8 -- it does many things, many of them poorly. Same with Mandrake, Stormix, Progeny, Peanut, Debian ... sigh. Ximian Evolution 1.2 is more robust than other Linux E-mail apps and doesn't crash without saving like M$IE (actually, it almost never crashes at all), but it has address book problems. Now it has suddenly stopped responding to Ctrl-C CTRL-V cut & paste -- I can Ctrl-C but not CTRL-V (have to use the toolbar Edit, Paste long method -- within the same E-mail or to move text into the E-mail from elsewhere). I know, I know, I *should* go to the Ximian site (I have in the past) to file a "something broken" report. The problem is that there are so many things broken in so many apps that it becomes a full time job documenting and posting them all over the Net -- I chose and purchased RH8 to replace an unreliable M$ (and multiple unreliable other Linux products misrepresented as comprehensive M$ replacements), not to substitute an equally inadequate product. Anyhow. I tire of the "flame" and "troll" namecalling from some here. Such merely stands as a reminder of the typical response when one notes the king's lack of clothes. I will continue with RH8, patiently (not) awaiting the hoped for quality controlled 8.1 version because I refuse to downgrade to M$. (I was forced to remove RH8 at work because of the many problems and am suffering with M$ once again.) Neither M$ or RH8 are mission ready but M$ has fewer hardware incompatibilities and the workplace-demanded Yahoo Messenger Linux-equivalents kept crashing (I tried several as I desperately tried to invade the workplace with Linux.). Rant off ... back to trying to patch updates to RH8 and related apps so I can do what it is I bought this PC to do.
