List,

The answer to this question is for my colleague, an MCSE, that needs reaffirmation on
the state of CD ROM media today:

Scenario:

Colleague orders a spindle of 50 CD-Rs. Receives said spindle. Spindle is labeled
"Music CD-R 700MB/80min/40X." Colleague is afraid to use CD-Rs to record data and
wishes to return for, and I quote, "Data CD-R"

I have tried to explain that the media is only labeled "Music CD-R" because of the
storage rating (700MB/80min), not because it is something specially formulated for
music.

Question:

Is true that the media is just CD-R media and not "specially" manufactured for the
storage of *music*?

Warmest Regards,
Tim

P.S.

I know music is data, and data can take the form of music, surely she understands
this? Maybe not. And yes, mentioning the fact that my colleague is MCSE is a bit of a
poke at MCSEs but this is a RedHat list and a few might find the humor in it.
