    Um, I tried that, I also tried rm /var/lib/rpm/__db.001 (and .002, and .003!)
Ive tried that with and without  rpm --rebuilddb   afterwards.(when running rpm
 --rebuilddb afterwards, the /__db.00* files come back.)  through all of this, I
have been testing rpm periodically with various uninstalled rpm's I have in my
 files, to no avail. I ran it -Uvvh, and everything goes fine, untill the install 
actually is about to take place. the hash marks go through "preparing," more fine 
looking debug info goes past, then, "package-0.0.0 has 125 files, test = 0" (package 
being whatever rpm i'm using. You were alot of help with my sound....so how are you 
with rpm? Thanks In advance!
