Hi all ! sorry if you have received this before, I'm having a little trubble with sending mail. I was wondering if anybody could give me some guidelines about where to place programs in the linux/unix directory-structure. I have just installed netscape in /usr/local/etc and some KDE-apps in /opt/kde/share/apps Is this a wrong way of doing it ? What are the "rules" about the placement of apps in linux/unix ? Can anybody point me to some sources of information about this ?
