Not only doe CIPE work quite well, it's also the only thing I know of which 
works well in a compatible form on both Windows and Linux. Most of the 
really useful docs and the mailing list are linked to in one form or 
another from http://sites.inka.de/sites/bigred/devel/cipe.html more is 
included in the downloads. It's probably worth having a look at the old 
mini howto on the Linux Documentation Project 
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/mini/Cipe+Masq.html as well.
