If you install the kernel-source-(version).i386.rpm package, the kernel 
source will be in /usr/src/linux-(version), and a symlink will be crated 
as /usr/src/linux-2.4.

However, your define for this should probably be:
/lib/modules/`uname -r`/build

Which should be a symlink to the kernel source. (It's created by the 
kernel package.)
Like so:
$ ll /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build
/lib/modules/2.4.18-24.8.0/build -> ../../../usr/src/linux-2.4.18-24.8.0
