I have a digital camera but I don't know how to mount it. I put the usb-cable in the computer but I can't enter in the camera(windows sees it as a hard drive). I want to dpwnload picture from it to the computer.

Must I mount it? how can I know the directory thet identifies the camera?

Thanks.

Ricardo,

Linux must support you camera for it to work properly. You can go to http://www.linux-usb.org/ and view the working devices list to see if you model of camera is there. RH8.0 has USB capabilities already biutl into the kernel so you should be able to see your camera if it does work.

I don't know much about USB camera's for linux, but if it does mount as a USB storage device:

You must create a directory (I tend to use /mnt/xxx with xx being a descriptive name like camera or win, etc) and mount the camera to that directory. Your camera should have a device associated for it, which you shouldbe able to see via your system log (using a graphical log viewer) or dmesg.

Hope this helps a bit,
