Hmm maybe I'll try that . fdisk gives a nastygram that the partition table will be reread at the next boot and I hate to do that on this box if I do not have to. It is not actually critical but I hve been in situation where it sure would be nice to be able to do this without a reboot. Obvioulsy this needs to be looked at aon a case by case basis or the filesystems could be majorly screwed.
