Yes, you are right, I did install the i386 rpm for
NTFS.  I have a AMD CPU, and I am confused and don't
understand what i386 and i686 means, could someone
explain it to me?  

Also when doing uname -a, I get this output

i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux


i686 athlon i386 both show up
