Dear Linux/Unix Gurus:
I'm trying to setup user authentication using htpasswd. Refering to
the instructions at
http://www.apacheweek.com/features/userauth
I was told to edit a file called access.conf. Is there such a file on
linux OS, or do I have to create it manually? If I need to create
it, which directory should it be stored in?
If anyone has configured "User authentication" using Apache web
server, I would appreciate a step by step guide.
Last but not least, I have Apache Server version 1.1.1. Can someone
tell me how to upgrade the server to the latest version (1.2.6). I
have never upgraded anything on a Linux server, so a simple and
straight forward instruction is much appreciated.
Thank you.
