When you installed Linux, where did you put the boot loader?  The MBR or the
Linux boot partition?  Are you using a 3rd party boot manager like System
Comander or Bootmagic?  Is your XP partition formatted with NTFS?

You may need to use the XP CD to do a repair.  If you do this, do not select
the Repair Console on the first screen.  Select Install.  Then on the next
screen press R to do a repair. 

Then your can proceed to set up dual booting.  The topic of how to dual boot
has been thoroughly discused in this group.  So there sould be lots of info in
the archives.
