Still no new cable, but here are the results of some cat'ing i did just
now:

[root@localhost hde]#  cat /proc/ide/ide2/hde/capacity
156301488

[root@localhost hde]#  cat /proc/ide/ide2/hde/model
ST380021A

So it recognizes its a Seagate 80gb drive.  I'm thinking the numbers for
capacity are cylinders or something?  Thank you to those following this
thread.
