To whomever responds, thanks in advance: Running Netscape 4.03 (X11) on RH Linux 4.2, kernel 2.0, with the Netscape "mail polling" turned off. Netscape dies without any helping messages. This happens frequently -- every day -- several times a day. It doesn't happen if I am active on a web site. It happens when I am dealing with mail -- either getting it, composing it, or sending it. I have to ps and kill Netscape, then restart it. This behavior seems to be related to the SLIP line provider logging me out after about 10 minutes. However, it *doesn't always happen*. My best defense is to kill the SLIP line myself if I know I'll be not keeping the line hot for a while, but even then it frequently dies. I think it is more likely to happen if the line has been connected and later I kill it or it dies. It *usually* but not always happens when I initiate an action that needs the line, but sometimes it dies when I haven't knowingly accessed the line. Has anybody out there had this problem and understood and fixed it?
