Nope, can't ping it from other machines. The netmask is set correctly, and
so is the localhost.
I can ping the router by IP.
Situation is no different at this point. When I get home again, I'll try
swapping NICs again...maybe it has something to do with the 3Com...

The response should be instantaneous. Can you ping the box from other
machines?
Is the netmask set correctly? Is the localhost set to 127.0.0.1? When you
say
you tried to ping your hub, did you do a ping to the ipaddress or hostname
of
the hub?
Sorry, I didn't pickup the thread from the very beginning so I'm not too
sure
what your current situation looks like.
BTW, I am running RH4.2 on a Sparc2.
