Not sure about this, but I think I had vfat working under 5.0, maybe as
far back as 4.2; but I don't do it often so don't take my word for it.
As for upgrading to 5.1, have you looked into CheapBytes
(www.cheapbytes.com)? Their splash page is advertising the "full"
version of RedHat 5.1, but if you click on the "linux operating system"
link, it will take you to their listing of the de-commercialized Linux
distributions. RedHat 5.1 can be had there for $1.99.
Of course you don't get the printed copy of the user manual or the 3rd
CD of all the trial versions of stuff from other manufacturers, but if
what you want is the Latest Greatest Linux on a CD, it should do you
just fine.
