Hi All.

I just recently switched from Slackware to RedHat 5.0 and I've noticed
one major problem. Well, not really a problem but more an annoyance.

Untaring files takes about 5 times longer on my new RedHat system. It
took almost 10 minutes to untar the 2.0.33 kernel source file.
Previously on Slackware (with no hardware mods of any sorts since then)
it would only take a couple of minutes and definately less than 5.

Any ideas as to what is causing the major slow down? Oh, if it makes
any difference, it seems to be getting swapped out of the CPU because it
will run and then stop for extended periods.

TIA!
