I've just made my first attempt at building and uploading rpm packages for RHL
5.0/Intel to the contrib area of redhat.

I really needed the binutils-2.8.1.0.25 badly and asked the redhat-list if
someone had done it. No answer yet. In the mean time, I decided I would have a
go at making it my self. I took out the spec file from the contrib'ed
binutils-2.8.1.0.23-1, renamed it to binutils-2.8.1.0.25.spec and made some
minor changes. Then I did a rpm -ba binutils-2.8.1.0.25.spec and whow, magic!

However, beware that I'm not sure that all of it is fully functional. I've
tried it on the egcs-980321 compiler and all *seems* well...

Also, I needed to update the procps-* also. I did this in the following way.
First, I built the binutils-2.8.1.0.25-1.src.rpm and the
binutils-2.8.1.0.25-1.i386.rpm. I then updated the binutils package with
--nodeps to get by the deps from procps. After that, I took the contrib'ed
procps-1.2.6-1.src.rpm and rebuilt it. Then I updated the two binary procps-
packages. Quit easy...

Anyway, there they are now... Please send me feedback on how I sould have done
instead...
