Hello all, I have a problem w/ PPP. As I (verbosely) reported to Red Hat... > I have a problem staying connected to my internet provider. > My connection is completed successfully, using PPP. > The connection will work fine for a varying amount of time. > Sometimes it will work for only a few seconds, and sometimes > for several hours, and varying amounts of time in between. > > While the connection is working, I can use Netscape, or ping > my provider, but then the connection stops working. The > modem stays connected, and pppd does not die of its own > accord, but I can no longer reach my provider with Netscape, > or by ping-ing. If ping or Netscape are running, they > suddenly freeze up. Netscape will eventually report, > "Netscape is unable to locate the server:..." > > PPPD does not report any problems in the system log file > besides "CPP: timeout sending Config-Requests" when it > first connects. > > I have verified that my modem is working correctly. > My internet provider is working properly (without these > connection problems) under Windows 95, Windows NT and OS/2. > > I have also connected to another internet provider, but > have the same problem. > > What can I do to keep my connection going? Additionally, I setup my modem's init string, I am using A USR 33K modem. This same system connected fine a while ago under Win95 without these kinds of problems. Does anyone have any ideas??? -JPC ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com -- PLEASE read the Red Hat FAQ, Tips, Errata and the MAILING LIST ARCHIVES! http://www.redhat.com/RedHat-FAQ /RedHat-Errata /RedHat-Tips /mailing-lists To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
