    Hello Steve,

    I'm a beginner too and also running Rad Hat 5.0.    If you have installed
Red Hat 5.0 with All the X options installed you should start X with :
'startx '  or 'startx &'
    Both will work and for me ther isn't any difference, maybe somebody can
tell what difference
    it will make using the '&'.    If X does not work properly (mouse or video
problems) you should configure it with:    xf86Config to chance settings,
otherwise read the FAQ's and HOWTO pages.
