A few months back I sucessfully configured PPP under RH5.0 and it
worked a charm.. I've now performed a fresh install of RH5.1 and I'm having
problems again!

I've configured the modem as well as I know how (linked /dev/cua0
--> /dev/modem, added some configuration into /etc/rc.d/rc.serial) and I by
the fact that I can dial/login my ISP via minicom succesfully I assume its
working okay.

I've recreated my ppp scripts and they appear to be fine.. but when
I try and connect using ./ppp-on I get a msg in my /var/log/messages file
something like "Serial device is looped back".

I don't get any attempt to initialse the modem, dial a number etc..
just this looped back thing..

The most anoying thing is that at 3am last night I realised that I
could sucessfully connect using the network tool in control-panel!!

So why oh why do I get this error msg when I attempt to connect via
my ppp-script??

Any pointers in the right direction would be very helpfull..

        Thanks in advance

        Tim
