Depends on how new your BIOS is.  I used to have a four drive system, where
Windoze95 was on the first drive and Linux was on the last two.  A CD-ROM
was the 2nd drive.  So, this means that hdc and hdd were the Linux drives.
LILO was able to replace the MBR and boot from hdc without a problem.  BUT,
it depends on your BIOS.  If it is old enough, you will have to get a root
partition onto hda or hdb and have it fit within the first 1023 cylinders of
that drive.
