I use wavplay, which is available in the contrib section at RedHat's
FTP site.
While we're on the subject: is there a recording program that will
mute the microphone until recording actually starts? Unlike even
Windows 95's Sound Recorder, under Linux the microphone seems live all
the time if the volume is turned up to permit recording.
