I am also wondering if anyone is running ghostscript 5.10, I
really need some help in recompiling and adjusting the dependencies with
ghostview. Thanks.

I am running ghostscript 5.10 that I compiled under Redhat 5 & glibc.
(Aladdin Ghostscript 5.10 (1997-11-23)) I did NOT use any rpm.
I made the following notes in case I wanted to recompile ghostscript in
the future, hope they help ... (note I put it in the /usr/local tree)

use the modified gcc-head.mak and follow the directions in make.txt
also needed to
create a symbolic link to /usr/local/bin/gs from /usr/bin because that is
where RedHat printer
utilitys look for it.
when re-install remove (after checking for differences) the
/usr/local/share/ghostscript/5.10/Fontmap because I moved this file to
/usr/local/share/ghostscript/fonts and have added fonts
