Hello to all :

I have purchased InfoMagic's LINUX Developer's Resource CD-ROM. It came with 6-CD set.
On the first CD I had RedHat 4.1 for Intel which installs kernel 2.0.27.

I followed the installation instructions and got to the point where I can play some
games under Xwindows, which means the installation was successful but at least not
100%.

The only part which did not go ok with me when it asked my if I would like to
configure LAN networking for my system. I said Yes since I have an ISA nic card
(tested under DOS and it works fine) on my box. My card is NE2000 compatible, so I
selected NE2000 out of a list of drivers shown to me. It then asked me if I should
specify options or let it be determined by Autoprobe. Anyway I tried both but failed
to sense if my box had any nic cards.

I was wondering if the kernel that I am trying to install was compiled with Networking
or not, but I am sure it was since it asked me for networking option.

I tried the IFCONFIG command and gave me an error message saying the "device is not
available".

I looks my system can not sense or see any network cards. I have Award Modular Bios
V4.51PG, and this the following parameters on BIOS set as :

At CHIPSET FEATURES SETUP:
        Auto Configuration : DISABLED

At PnP/PCI Configuration:
        PnP OS Installed : NO

I spent a month on this problem, but gone to nowhere. I appreciate very much any help.

Saleh
