Yes, the binary-rpm available at the Purp homepage is compiled on a
machine running RedHat 5.1. I added a note about this on the
download-page.

The problem is that I only have one Linux-machine, and it's hard to make
binaries for other RedHat-versions than the one I run. And if I doesn't
run the latest versions people mails complaints about that.. :-|

Well, the best thing to do if you doesn't run the version that Purp is
built for is to rebuild it. Use the source-rpm with the --rebuild command:

[root@pudas SRPMS]# rpm --rebuild purp-0.3.0-1.src.rpm

Strange, I've never had any problems opening the RPM-database while beeing
root. Purp uses the rpmlib-functions to do this. Do you have any problems
with other RPM-utilities like 'rpm' or 'glint'?
