Thanks for all the input,
My problem starts with me trying to do this from the CD as a mounted FTP
dir. NT does not like the linux/unix names and will not read them off the
CD. basically it just puts in _ for the . and crops off the ending extension.
So much for my quick way of doing this. I think I am no back to getting a
ID cd-rom and installing it in the system for the install. I do have one other
quick question for ya'all though, I have an advancesys scsi card, don't
no the type (it was provided with a HP surestore CDR), I put that in the
system last night but it still was not working, it just hangs on the
autoprobe, I can see the cd spin up as it's being seeked, but then
nothing. So the question, Are there known problems with the
AdvaceSYS cards, the H/W list says they are supported, but does not
list any specs for which cards.
Thanks again for all the help, just shows why linux is making its name
known.

My guess is that you probably don't have the correct path specified.
Your
path should include the architecture of your machine.
i.e. an ftp install to ftp.redhat.com the correct directory to install
from is:
/pub/redhat/redhat-5.0/i386
if this isn't your problem, your ftp logs may give you some clue..
