I need to upgrade to gcc-2.8.1. I found gcc-2.8.1-1.i386 from redhat in
the hurricane update directory. When I did an rpm -bb it fails saying that
it can't complete the build because the stuff isn't already installed.
Duh. So I grabbed the binary thinking I get an install from src after an
extra round through the binary. Here's what happens:

[root@localhost steveo]# rpm -Uvh gcc-2.8.1-1.i386.rpm
failed dependencies:
        gcc = 2.7.2.3 is needed by gcc-c++-2.7.2.3-8

[root@localhost steveo]# rpm -qa |grep gcc
gcc-2.7.2.3-8
gcc-c++-2.7.2.3-8
[root@localhost steveo]#

Am I retarded or is there something I should do?

TIA
