On upgrade? That doesn't make much sense to me, as the package doesn't have any %post/%pre/%preun, etc. scripts. If authconfig hangs, can you attach to the process with strace on another terminal to see what it's attempting to do when it hangs? Looking at the differences between 4.1.19 (from original RHL 7.2) and 4.1.19.2, the only changes made were in text strings.
