Dear all,
I experienced a lot of troubles with my computer in the upgrading of the
OS RH7.0 -> RH7.1.
The CD-Rom stops the autobooting after hde detection
failure, so the upgrade is not longer possible, and also the kernel 2.4.x
seems to be unable to manage the ATA-100.
The my PC is a Duron 750MHz with 128MB RAM, MB Asus A7V with PDC20265
(ATA 100 controller) and VIA VT82C686a (Apollo chpset rev.22), with PCI
Sound Blaster 1024!, ATI Rage 128 AGP, PCI AVA 2904 SCSI Controller for
external ZIP drive.
Under RH 7.0 all works fine but I must to specify ATA hw address into
lilo.conf as follow:
image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.2.16-22
label=l
read-only
root=/dev/hde2
append="ide2=0x8400, 0x8002 ide3=0x7800, 0x7402"
