Bearing in mind Bill's response..
If you're particularly desperate, you can run a (modified) 2.4.0 kernel under
2.2 if you use user-mode-linux from user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net
Note that user-mode-linux isn't a finished product and so I say "if you're
sufficiently desperate."
