Hmm, I've done a few installs using the 7.0 CD set. My prcatice is to use
the text based custom install. I attempt to install the minimum set of
packages. IIRC, I have repeatedly deselected linuxconf and the installer
installs it despite my action. My experience is that the minimum install is
about 300 MB.

May I suggest that Red Hat ought to craft the custom installer to permit a
true minimum install to be performed. I mean an absolute minimum install of
essential packages to get a system up and running. This would be of great
help to many folks.
