I tried to compiled a new kernel on a redhat 6.2 system using the
kernel-source package.

No joy. No matter what I did, the compile dies with undefined
smp-related variable being uninitiated in the kernel headers.

rh70 comes with kernel-headers-2.4.x - are you supposed to use these
headers instead of the ones in the kernel-source package?

BTW, the reason I want to compile and use this kernel is twofold:

- USB support patches are in there (yes, I can do with that!!! :)

- I want to use a kernel with FULL routing capabilities, including
TOS and fwmark routing, using /sbin/ip and /sbin/tc

- also want to use this kernel on laptops with pcmcia-cs available.

If the default rh70 kernel is already compiled as a fully-capable
router, can someone confirm this? (I got the impression from doing
a "make xconfig" on the kernel-source that the default is that all
this is enabled).

Many thanks.

BTW, are there any "gotyas" with using this particular kernel on 6.2
systems?

Cheers
Tony
