FWIW, the Mandrake 7.1 recommends the same upgrade, but after doing it I no longer
had SCSI drivers (and my Linux system is on an SCSI drive). That was reparable by
doing an upgrade to the CD version (downgrade). The new (old) kernel was then the
boot kernel, but the "upgrade" kernel was still present, which allows some things
that depend on its libries to work. (But, of course, not all of them.)
I've been wondering whether the same process could be used to switch from
Pinstripe to RH62. But, of course, I keep hoping that the final version of
Pinstripe will be released soon, so I don't want to spring for it now.
