I am having a problem with a botched file transfer between two FAT
partitions. I attempted to transfer a folder from one partition to
another with the same filename. I attemted to cancel and then rename
but it seems that the transfer continued even though I hit the cancel
button (KDE). Now, the directory on the source disk is missing and the
replaced directories that somehow appeared in the destination partition
are empty of files. The source disk directory was still there initially
but showed up as "locked" and was non-existent in the terminal mode. As
soon as I changed directories and went back it was gone. I was going to
attempt a file system preen but receive a "bash: fsck.vfat: command not
found" message. First, am I going in the right direction by attempting
a fsck repair and what is a fsck.vfat command. I have not found it in
any utilities or in any FAQ or support. Just for your information. I
have been using Linux for exactly one week, so I am not even to the
Newbie level yet. I hope that someone can help.
