I can't speak for Red Hat, but my observation is that Glint was
buggy, and a native GNOME/Gtk app would be much nicer. GNOrpm
came along, and is no less stable than glint really.. I got
bitten by gnorpm and was angry about it, however I don't think
going backwards to glint is the answer. Going forwards to
improve gnorpm where it lacks is the answer, or writing a new
application to replace it. Porting tcl/tk to gtk/gnome would be
futile - really it would be a whole new application, and gnorpm
exists allready. It would make more sense to spend the time/$$$
to make gnorpm do what is needed. I honestly don't think too
many people use gnorpm though so that could indicate why it is so
buggy. People are not likely to continue using a buggy app after
being bitten, especially for sysadmin stuff.

Yep, it is full screen ncurses. I believe it was written by
Preston Brown (I think that's his name..).

I agree mostly.. but it is a start to go on should someone want
to replace it. What I'd like to hear is if anyone is working on
it right now, or on a better app. I'll bet the helixcode guys
are doing something..

Perhaps.. I haven't looked at the source to see if it is chewtoy
material or just buggy.

I work from home mostly. Remote administration, programming,
etc.. Since I'm online most of the time, my email comes in at
all hours. I take coding breaks to read my email and get
responses to my own questions, and fire off a few helpful answers
at the same time. Aside from work-time, I spend a lot of my own
personal time on open source projects of my own, and participate
in the lists as a hobby. I enjoy helping others on the lists,
when I find the time, so it isn't a burden. When I get
overburdened with work and life's other activities, I disappear
for a few days, weeks, or months - like my 3 month disappearance
earlier this year.. I kindof come and go.. ;o)

Work comes first, then comes volunteer time. ;o)

My RSI is a bitch though. ;o)
