I think we're getting away here.... I have Red Hat 6.2 installed
as an upgrade from 6.1 which was originally 6.0 which was the
original fresh install.
I do have libc4 installed, however it is irrelevant. I knew it
was installed without looking. I also know that when I compile
stuff I am compiling using glibc and not libc. libc is there for
running precompiled apps that use it. I am developing some stuff
and wanting documentation on the C library that is being used
when I compile. Not the C library that is installed for back
compatibility. Wether or not libc is installed or not in no way
affects my application, my build environment, or any of the
documentation installed either. libc package contains only .so
files.
That is my point really... Sorry if I was being confusing or
contradictory. I just want basename() docs, and I didn't care
where they came from. libc is quite irrelevant to all of this is
all I tried to say. Again, libc4 is obsolete and deprecated. It
is no longer part of Red Hat in 7.0. basename is still here.
What does this have to do with basename documentation anymore?
If nobody can give me a meaningful basename() manpage or docs,
please kill the thread and don't reply. I don't care about any
of this stuff I just want a doc.
