Hello experts
I just installed pinstripe-6.9.5 through rsync from ftp.sunet.se. After
my problems i rechecked my tree and it seemed
correct.
My system is old but has a Creative 3D Blaster Riva TNT2 Vanta, PCI.
It was nice to see the old installation, everything went nicely in a
custom install.
When as an ordinary user I tried to install KDE, with startx I got the
Dragon but it complained:
Could not read network connection list - check that dcopserver is
running - then it stopped.
When I checked out through Ctrl-Alt-F2 I could read one interesting
notice:
Syntax Error: Unknown command 'refresh Desktop'.
As root I could confirm through ps -aux that: kdeinit had traversed
dcopserv, klaunche, kded and Running.
As root I checked my eth0 through mc - ftp and lynx http and had
absolutely no problem.
I checked my XF86Config and noticed that my videoram was hashed and had
only found 4KB. I changed this to
32MB and rebooted as root with the same result.
Hope this might guide You - nice to have the opportunity to see Your new
system.
