Not a problem at all.
We have three different flavors of RedHat running on some really big mama jamma 
Netfinitiy servers with Host based RAID as the
onboard controller.

The only issue we have is that with host based RAID controllers it is challenging to 
cluster them as an Oracle failover solution.
There is a form of communication that the two controllers use to talk to each other to 
update the RAID settings though. (just
haven't figured it out yet.)
