Hi all, I notice that the kernel with 6.2 has support fgor LFS in headers, but that it ws disabled in the shipping kernel. Are there a list of issues available, as I am having problems locally setting up a backup server. In the simple scheme of things, a scipt runs and does an smbtar of various shares from the PCs around the department. The issue is that many of the shares hold over 2Gb of data, and there doesn't appear to be any nice way to deal with splitting the backup into multiple just-under-2Gb files without hacking on the tar source. I'm hoping that if I build a custom kernel, with lfs enabled, that the tar with 6.2 could be persuaded to store upto 8Gb files without a problem. The largest partition we have is 8Gb (and is the ansi-tar maximum size as I recall reading in a man page somewhere) Mark +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Mark Cooke The views expressed above are mine and are not Systems Programmer necessarily representative of university policy University Of Birmingham URL: http://www.sr.bham.ac.uk/~mpc/ +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ -- To unsubscribe: mail -s unsubscribe [EMAIL PROTECTED] < /dev/null
