That's a really good question, actually! Is there any piece of hardware
left on the planet that supports 320x240 better than 640x480?

Workaround: one of those fancy office chairs with wheels. Lean back and
double the distance to the monitor with a swift outward motion of the
legs. As you roll backwards to a comfortable viewing distance, you'll once
again be a satisfied customer ;-)
