Hello,
We have several Red Hat Linux 6.0 systems deployed in the field. The OS is
installed on a Calluna PCMCIA hard drive. Very frequently, when the system
has been previously powered off without halting it correclty, it will boot
boot up and stop with file system error and require manual intervention.
This seems to be from the rc.sysinit script calling "fsck" and "fsck"
returns a value greater then 1 which prompts the "sulogin" command to
execute. At this point I can now type in my password and manually run:
# fsck -y /dev/hda1
manually to fix the file system. The system will now want to reboot.
My question is how can I get around this manual intervention in the field.
Should I replace the logic where "sulogin" gets called with my own logic?
What is the best way to do this? There will be no keyboard attached to the
system.
Thanks,
Todd
