We're (finally) using Linux as a primary NFS server in one of our
locations. So far we're pretty happy with it, but on very infrequent
occassions users will see variations on the error below pop up for NFS
access from Suns running Solaris serving off the Linux box:

NFS lookup failed for server chet: error 7 (RPC: Authentication
error)
    NFS getattr failed ....

Sometimes it's a "getattr", sometimes a "read", sometimes a "write". It
can be in the middle of concurrent reads as well (ie: the first reads
work, the later reads fail from the same file descriptor). It's always
"RPC: Authentication error" in any case.

The only common thread, which I don't put to much weight in, is that
these users have lots of files stored in the root of their home
directories.

Has anyone seen this? We're running whatever the default NFS server is.
On the same note we're wondering if we should use one over the other
(kernel vs. daemon)? Note we also get complaints about NFS version 3 not
being found (which is the Solaris default and will revert to 2 if not
available).

Thanks,
