That is a definite issue that needs to be addressed for sure. I
think that this is an area that should be looked into as a high
priority IMHO. Even experienced users will assume that something
has went wrong if there are no visual cues indicating
otherwise. I've rebooted an install on occasion because of an
apparent hang to find out later that it was just something taking
forever to respond, but something was in fact happening.
I don't know how complex the problem is though to understand how
it could be fixed...
