One or two nice packages rely on the usermode package, which is a pain. I
tend to set the permissions on /usr/bin/shutdown, etc. so that users can't
run them. At my college, where we use RH Linux on some of our public access
machines, we have an acceptable use policy - in our opinion it's not
acceptable to turn a Linux box off. On the rare occasion that it has
happened, we've caught (and punished :?) ) the person concerned.
Unfortunately it's not a perfect world (which incidently is why we need
a power switch/reset button.....)
