I also had long term netscape probs with RH 5.x and various versions
of netscape and javascript sites. Disabling javascript would
stop all the random crashes, but equates to cutting off your own nose. :)
I eventually found a subliminal reference in their general unix issues...
If you have a 'Helper Application' entry for type x-javascript and it is
set to 'Save to Disk' or 'Prompt User'... it can cause problems.
I just deleted the whole x-javascript entry and all probs disappeared.
This tip has worked for many people with the same results.
It must have been inserted during some pattern of the installs of different
netscapes 4.0x 4.5x 4.6x etc under various RedHats that we all did.
