"owner" - new /etc/fstab option?

This seems to be something new that has appeared in rh61, and I can't
seem to find any documentation about it.

In the default fstab file there's a new mount option for the removable
media devices: "owner".  No mention of it in mount(8) or fstab(5).

Can anyone tell me exactly what its purpose is?
