Not really. MS Proxy can do "application level" proxying, which is normal
HTTP forwarding, just like Squid and other common proxies on UNIX.
It also has "WinSock Proxy", which is generic port-forwarding and thats
what the special client software is for. You can't use that with Linux, but
you don't need to because SOCKSv4 is also supported and there's Linux
client software for that (and in case you only want to have HTTP
forwarding, you don't even need that).
Still, I would recommend getting rid of MS Proxy if you can. My usual
Anti-MS bias at work here...
