I'm creating a SIMPLE Rdist routine to update two DNS Masters. They
both are identically patched RedHat 5.2 (Linux 2.2.4 kernels) servers.
However, rdist complains that it cannot find rdistd on the remote server
with the simple command:
[root@access /root]# rdist -f /root/DNS.distfile
access2.hky.com: updating host access2.hky.com
access2.hky.com: LOCAL ERROR: Unexpected input from server: "bash:
rdistd: command not found".
access2.hky.com: updating of access2.hky.com finished
[root@access /root]#
Rdist works properly if you specify the actual location of the rdistd
program on the remote server, as such:
[root@access /root]# rdist -f /root/DNS.distfile -p /usr/sbin/rdistd
access2.hky.com: updating host access2.hky.com
access2.hky.com: updating of access2.hky.com finished
[root@access /root]#
I guess my problem with this is WHY?
Is this a Bug? Should it get promoted to Bugzilla? Should I report it,
or will someone from Red Hat do this?
